He founded Dementi, an independant photographers collective following the establishment of the martial law in Poland in 1981. It documented the Solidarnosc strikes, the protests, the resistance in Poland as well as the collapse of the Soviet bloc. He is the author of Goulag (2003) and La Grande Terreur en URSS 1937-1938 (2013).
