Indeterminacy : Thoughts on time, the image and race(ism)
Indeterminacy - Stanley Wolukau-Wanambwa & David Campany
Indeterminacy is an exchange between the photographer Stanley Wolukau-Wanambwa and the curator David Campany. The discussion on the text and the image is published in the « DISCOURSE » series by Mack. Their dialogue focuses on resistance tools that photography can offer facing neoliberal visual culture, different forms of conservatism, as well as social and cultural oppression. On the occasion of Paris Photo, the two authors will converse on these questions with Phil Taylor – assistant curator in the Photography Department at the George Eastman Museum. The discussion will be held in English and will be followed by a book signing at LE BAL’s bookshop.
How can photography be articulated with necessary alternative practices? How to reach visibility out of consensual categories created by the mainstream media? What other models of photography production and exhibition could inspire an active point of view? These are some of the questions discussed by David Campany and Stanley Wolukau-Wanambwa with a focus on change and future possibilities. The two authors will discuss their new work with Phil Taylor – assistant curator in the Photography Department at the George Eastman Museum – from 7pm at LE BAL. Booking is recommended.
