For this ROUND #10, in the heart of the exhibition Radial Grammar by Batia Suter, the philosopher Jérôme Dokic and the writer, photographer and publisher Suzanne Doppelt will think together to the images function of representation.

Batia Suter's work founds itself on the re-contextualization process and on the resizing of printed images, and their value of documents. What does this value, and the relationship with reality it supposed, become in the association game created by the artist ? Is it weakened, set aside or even purely abolished ? Such a process of rearrangement and assemblage questions the representation function of images, their ability to "allow to see" something. The discussion between Jérôme Dokic and Suzanne Doppelt will increase this questioning by feeding it with concepts and examples of their respective work.

Suzanne Doppelt, is a photographer, writer and publisher. Member of the editorial board of the review Vacarme, she founded and still runs with Pierre Alferi the literary review Détail. She is also in charge of the collection "Le rayon des curiosités" with Bayard. She recently published with P.O.L. Vak spectra, 2017, Amusements de mécanique, 2014, La plus grande aberration, 2012. Her work gathers text and photographic images.

Jérôme Dokic, is a philosopher, head of studies at the Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales, member of the Institut Jean Nicod (CNRS, EHESS, ENS). Her researches focus on the philosophy of mind, on the philosophy of psychology and cognitive sciences.

Host : Sylvain Bourmeau, journalist, producer of La suite dans les idées on France Culture, founder of AOC and associate professor at the EHESS.
