Meeting, Reading and Performance

If the video surveillance system displays images, how the numerical surveillance substantiates despite its complexity of data, network and algorithm ? What our digital shadows in the data centers of NSA, Amazon, Google and Facebook look like ? The artistic collective and research group RYBN invest in these issues through the setting of Surveillance Index with a metting which will be followed by a lecture by Magali Daniaux and Cédric Pigot and a performance by Benjamin Cadon.

Beyond the issue of image, which imaginaries, which politics convey these mathematics models which claim anticipate our choices, satisfy ourdesires and foresee our actions ? Through a round-table debate with the participation of the audience, the collective RYBN will perform an autopsy on the predictive algorithmic surveillance system PredPol.  Magali Daniaux and Cédric Pigot, from the publishing company Éditions UV, will read the next Konrad Becker book to be published, Dictionnaire de réalité stratégique - Intelligence culturelle et politiques invisibles de l'information. Then, the artist Benjamin Cadon will present his performance Attack me please at 2.432 GHz.

 

Benjamin Cadon

Artist and manager of Labomedia, non-profit association which intervenes into the arts field and the numerical cultures through testing and research. Scientific by education, he became interest in the numerical tools very soon and creates now his own installations and audiovisual performances. Cadon will present at LE BAL Attack me please at 2.432 GHz, a performance based on the real-time sonification of human activity. By this way, he discusses the massive use of wireless transmissions and the issues it conveys : public health, security and privacy protection.

Publishing UV

Founded by the artists and graphic designers Magali Daniaux and Cédric Pigot, the publishing company Éditions UV focuses on theses themes : anthropology and medias criticism, technology philosophy, information theory and gender studies. They will read for LE BAL their last work published : Le Dictionnaire de Réalité Stratégique by Konrad Becker. It analyses the handle process of the constant flow of information we receive even through the economy of online attention keeps growing. This work offers 72 keys of complex mechanisms which try to reproduce our perceptions, feelings and expressions.
