Chantal Pontbriand

Chantal Pontbriand has been the curator of many international events : exhibitions, festivals and colloquiums, most in the fields of photography, multimedia creation, video and perfomance.

Her work focuses on the issues related to globalization and artistic heterogeneity. She is the founder of the contemporary art review PARACHUTE, which she directed 125 numbers between 1975 and 2007. After she establishes many events around performance, she cofounded and managed the FIND(Festival International de Nouvelle Danse) in Montréal from 1982 to 2003. In 2010, she has been appointed Head of Exhibition Research and Development in the Tate Modern of London and then, she founded PONTBRIAND W.O.R.K.S. [We_Others and Myself_Research_Knowledge_Systems], which gathers her various activities of critic, curator and contemporary art consultant. Among her recent publications, there is the collection of essays : The Contemporary : Art in A Globalizing World, Sternberg Press, Berlin, 2013.
