OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE

Since 5 years, Stéphane Pigneul and Frédéric Oberland ripen an intense and dark experimental rock and in constant evolution. Their name, Oiseaux-Tempête evokes as the cloudy free trait as the chaos that lead the musicians's songs.

Le dernier album du duo, AL-‘AN ! , paru cette année sur le label bruxellois Sub Rosa, est le fruit d’un voyage au Liban et de collaborations avec des protagonistes de l’avant-garde musicale arabe (Charbel Haber, Sharif Sehnaoui…) conviés à dialoguer avec des musiciens européens (Sylvain Joasson, Mondkopf…). De ces alliances s’échappe une matière sonore atypique parsemée de field recordings et évoquant les harmonies traditionnelles du Moyen-Orient aussi bien que les élucubrations du krautrock ou la discipline rythmique du stoner, signes distinctifs du groupe depuis ses débuts et leitmotiv de leur représentation au BAL.

Their last album, AL-'AN, released with the Brussels label Sub Rosa, is the result of a trip in Liban and of many collaborations with main players of the arabic music avant-garde (Charbel Haber, Sharif Sehnaoui…) and their european counterparts (Sylvain Joasson, Mondkopf…). From these alliances born an atypical sound material composed of field recordings. It evokes the traditionnal harmonies of Middle-East as well as the krautrock's flights of fancy and the rigor rhythmic of the stoner, the singularity of the groupe since its beginning and the leitmotiv of their representation at LE BAL.
