Samuel Gratacap 2012-2014 / PRIX LE BAL DE LA JEUNE CREATION avec l'ADAGP
LE BAL is going one step further to support the production of creative work in the long term; and presents the first edition of the LE BAL AWARD FOR YOUNG ARTISTS with ADAGP 2017.
This prize is open to all photographers and/or videographers resident in Europe and under 40 years of age. LE BAL will support the laureate in completing an already-initiated creative project over a two year period. Priority will be given to projects falling under the broad spectrum of the documentary image, still and motion, representing diverse world hypotheses, positions, and constructions of human experience.
The laureate will receive a grant of 20,000 euros to complete their project.
In autumn 2017, the two years will culminate in an exhibition of the laureate’s work across the two spaces at LE BAL and a publication co-edited by LE BAL and Filigranes Editions.
Sitting on the judging panel, chaired by Diane Dufour, the director of LE BAL, are: Hugues Aubry, patron; Mohamed Bourouissa, artist; Daniel Buren, artist, board member of the ADAGP; Alain Fleischer, cinematographer and artist-photographer; Vincent Josse, journalist; Patrick Le Bescont, director of Filigranes Editions; Laurent Le Bon, president of the Musée Picasso, and Meret Meyer, board member of the ADAGP. They will meet in December 2015 to select the prize laureate and three special mentions.
The laureate and special mentions chosen by the judging panel will enjoy two days of masterclasses in 2016. An opportunity to meet professionals and leading figures in the world of the visual arts (editors, graphic designers, institute managers, critics, artists, collectors), to gain a better understanding of work issues and enrich and advance their creative project.
