Science and photography both developed their own language, to such an extent that associate them seems almost unthinkable. How can one make such different fields discuss ?
In partnership with a research group runned by the anthropologist Florence Weber, Jean-Robert Dantou questions our perception and representation of madness.
If showing insanity is the main theme of this work, the thought is, in fact, much deeper : How can one characterize the recovery ? The norm ? The illusion ? Life and memory ? The decision making ? Divided in several chapters, the book gives detailed explanations and successes to avoid being too laborious. Confronting portraits with objects and everyday life photographs, along with scientific texts, this book goes beyond the simple narrative plan.
