From May 28 to June 2, LA FABRIQUE DU REGARD – THE FESTIVAL returns for its second edition at LE BAL.
Combining a program that includes an exhibition, screenings, performance, and workshops, this 2nd edition of La Fabrique du Regard – The Festival presents the creations made this year by invited artists and the 2000 young people of La Fabrique du Regard, the educational and creative branch of LE BAL, around the theme 'Images Beyond Stereotypes.' From advertising images to museum paintings, from social networks to photographs in public spaces, the representation of bodies contributes to the creation of dominant archetypes. How do they inform our gaze, our behaviors? Between aesthetic canons and political instruments, is it possible to break free from these models? Young people and artists have tackled these questions within the context of a school, a sports center, or a community center to explore and decipher the powers of images and overturn clichés. Photo series, publications, films, and digital journeys are the fruits of their collaborations.
Resolutely contemporary, La Fabrique du Regard – The Festival offers new forms of writing reality, a rare expression of the questions of the youngest and emerging artists.
Throughout the festival, discover a selection of young creation editions by LE BAL Books.

Born in 1995, Lucien Bitaux initiated Scoposcopie, a discipline that questions vision instruments, the 'scopes.' He seeks the knot between the referent and its signifier, between an object and its image. A graduate of ENSAD, Paris, and Le Fresnoy, National Studio for Contemporary Arts, he is currently pursuing a thesis in artistic creation at the Center for Studies in Contemporary Arts at the University of Lille. In 2024, he created Mission Alfort with the children of École Charles Péguy in Maisons-Alfort, presented at the Festival.
7 PM – 7:45 PM: MATTER, Performance by choreographer and dancer Fernando Cabral.
Performing the intimate. Starting from his body as material to reclaim his history. By blending sensory immersions and the search for personal healing rituals, Fernando Cabral summons his family memory. Through a choreographic self-portrait paying homage to his Brazilian grandmother, he addresses the question of marginalized bodies in colonial and postcolonial history.
Brazilian dancer and choreographer, he is deeply influenced by his experience of sensory practices, Brazilian ecstatic rites, as well as the avant-gardes of the 1960s and 1970s. His creations have been presented at Tanzhaus Zürich, Nuit Blanche, Micadanses and Étoile du Nord - Paris, Itaú Cultural - São Paulo, Acker Stadt Palast - Berlin, Le Lieu Unique - Nantes.

Randa Maroufi is invited to curate an original program of short films made by artists and filmmakers who have collaborated with LE BAL / La Fabrique du Regard. The nine films gathered were made between 2017 and 2023 and all echo the upheavals of the world. They strive to share stories of lives often made invisible and offer images where they are lacking.
Born in 1987, Randa Maroufi, a Franco-Moroccan artist, is interested in staging bodies in public or intimate spaces. Often a political approach that claims ambiguity to question the status of images and the limits of representation. Among her recent exhibitions: National Museum of Women in the Arts NY USA (2024) where she represents France, Musée de la Photographie de Charleroi (2023), Lyon Biennale (2022). In 2021, as part of La Fabrique du Regard, Randa Maroufi directed Dans mon réseau with a group of young people from Clichy-Montfermeil in which they questioned their use and fascination with social networks. Film co-produced with Ateliers Médicis.
