Materialisms at work

Cycle organized by the École normale supérieure, university Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 and LE BAL
From January 19 to June 22 2017

To pursue the cycle "Marx en scène" in 2016, the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), the university Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 and LE BAL associate again for a cycle of screening and debates dedicated to the numerous materialist approaches of the artistic creation :  How artists work the photochemical or numerical matter of the image ? How does one represent the invisible ? How can one materialize the virtual financial trades, the invisible radioactivity, the numerical connections and other cloods ?

The debates will explore the imaginaries developed around the matter in all its dimensions : from the ideology of dematerialization to the Golem myth and the representations of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

Cycle conceived by Ada Ackerman and Antonio Somaini, with the support of research groups THALIM (Théorie et histoire des arts et des littératures de la modernité – CNRS) and LIRA (Laboratoire international de recherches en arts – université Paris III) with the collaboration of Mariya Nikiforova (LightCone).
