Poussières d'Amérique
Poussière d'Amérique
Arnaud des Pallières, 2011
"In America more than anywere, we used video to instruct people."
" In 2003, I started to watch hundreds of movies stored in an american collection of vernacular images (familial, educational, advertising or industrial movies, from 1905 till this day). In America before anywere else, we used video to instruct people. A true history of men, as personal as social, deploys itself in these images. Film libraries aren't interested by these mountains of archives. But it has fascinated one man, Rick Prelinger, who collected since 1983 more than 60 000 clips and uploaded some of them on his website. " [...] I have gathered six to seven hours of video, like we pick flowers without worrying about the field. With this cinema dust, I tell my own America history." Arnaud Des Pallières
At the end of the screening, Arnaud des Pallières will revisit the genesis of the film and on the necessary re-reading of history by archives.
Arnaud Des Pallières directed many movies like Drancy Avenir (1996), Adieu (2004), Parc (2006), and Michael Kohlhaas (2013).
