Dust in the Cinema

Encounter and screenings with Vincent Gérard
Thursday January 7, 2016 - 8 PM

Shoes under bed

William Eggleston

As a draught blows through the "world of cinema" and its surroundings, we observe the ways dust flies and settles in films – and the possible meanings of its particles.

This clean sweep will open windows onto the work of D.W. Griffith, Buster Keaton, Luis Buñuel, Carl Theodor Dreyer, Stan Brakhage, Robert Gardner, Nancy Holt, Mario Bava, Sam Peckinpah, Ben Russell, Melik Ohanian, Kelly Reichardt and Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Filmmaker Vincent Gérard teaches cinema at the Paris-Cergy National School of Art and the European School of Visual Art (Poitiers/Angoulême).
